BACKROADS COUNTRY
TIM
HUS
BUSH PILOT BUCKAROO
By Allison Brock
Tim Hus has come out with his fourth record - and it just
keeps on getting better and better. He's a storyteller
in the old sense of the word, spinning the tales of the
everyman - the trucker, cowboys, miners, rumrunners, vagabonds
and yes, the bush pilot buckaroos.
He may well be the ultimate in Canadiana songwriters.
The best part, though, is when he tells us a story - it's
the truth. As he wends his way through the countryside
you could follow him with a map; there are no fictional
places here.
Tim has earned a loyal following by constantly being on
the highways and byways that turn up in his tunes. Every
weekend Tim, Tim hits the road to play somewhere - from
small backroads community halls to bigger-city saloons.
The number of shows he plays each year is staggering.
In his lyrics, people can sense the truth; that's part
of the reason they keep coming back to see him. Numbering
among his fans are other great storytellers such as Corb
Lund, Ian Tyson, and Stompin' Tom Connors. No doubt about
it - Tim Hus is the real deal and he writes about what
he sees.
Allison Brock is a broadcaster
with shows on CKUA in Alberta and HANK FM in Winnipeg,
MB. She lives outside of Pincher Creek, AB and her radio
programs focus on traditional sounding country music.
