Calgary’s Tim Hus is the welcome
antithesis of all those airbrushed Nashville stars,
a guy who was born with a toothpick in his mouth
and dirt under his nails. Whether he’s singing
about the 18-point elk rack above the door in “Hotel
& Saloon,” driving a Freightliner down
the Yellowhead in “Longest Stretch of Road”
or the vintage tractor that “smells like a
john and runs like a deer” in Dangerous Dave’s
Tractor Show,” he’s all-Canadian and
authentic as beer breath on a Sunday morning. Cross
Corb Lund with Stompin’ Tom and you’ve
got Hus in your sights. He’s very good. Rating
