Quinn Holtby is the president of Katch kan Limited -
a company that manufactures rig safety and zero spill
systems for the upstream oil and gas industry. Quinn
is a fan of Tim's music - especially the songs he has
written about the oil patch - and so he commissioned
Tim to write an oil riggin' song for Katch Kan. Above
is a photo of Quinn presenting Tim with a framed 1920's
roughneck pencil drawing at the company Christmas party
in December.
Katch Kan is an industry leader operating in 58 countries
worldwide. Their rig safety and zero spill systems responsibly
reduce strain, sprain, and crush injuries, occurring
to personnel on the work-floor, while also providing
oil companies and contractors with a means to minimize
or eliminate on-site fluid contamination and loss.

Happy New Year!
First of all many thanks to all of our friends and supporters
for making 2011 a great year.
All the best to you and yours and may the coming year
treat you well!
It is the time of year where one takes stock of where
the trail has led and what the year ahead holds in store.
The year 2012 is somewhat of a milestone for our outfit
as it was exactly 10 years ago that I walked into a
recording studio in Hamburg, Germany with some local
talanted musicians and my Gibson guitar and recorded
an original album of Canadian country and cowboy music:
Songs of West Canada.
I can hardly believe that I have been in the music business
for a decade. What an interesting and eventful ride
it has been so far. I wouldn't have traded it for anything.
I was fortunate to make many friends across the country
and beyond and have been grateful for the opportunity
to share the stage with many talented musicians. Music
has built many a bridge along the highway and who would
have thought that these Canadian story-telling songs
would be able to reach as many people as they have?
I recorded 5 albums of original songs, signed a recording
contract with Stony Plain Records, toured the country
with Stompin' Tom, wrote "Hurtin' Albertan"
with Corb Lund, represented Alberta at the Smithsonian
in Washington, DC and the Olympics in Vancouver and
perfomed over 1500 concerts all across Canada, USA,
Europe, and Korea. I even talked my best friend into
opening a little honky-tonk bar in Calgary that turned
out to be a real little gem of a live music venue and
a success story for the three years that "A Bar
Named Sue" had it's home on 4th street SW. I have
been truly blessed to have had the opportunity to travel
down the highway and share the stage with talented musicians
and bandmates who believed in my music and taught me
a great deal about touring and leading a band and I
am proud to still call all of them my friends. Last
but not least I have had a longtime friendship and working
relationship with Pat McGannon of PM Gigs who has taken
care of many live performance bookings since 2006.
It is fitting that the season of touring begins this
year at the National Cowboy Gathering in Elko, Nevada
where I will be sharing the stage with one of my musical
heroes: Ramblin' Jack Elliott. When I was in high school
I taught myself to play guitar by listening to Ramblin'
Jack albums and trying to emulate his flat picking style.
I never would have imagined that I would one day share
the stage with him. Onwards and upwards and ever in
the pursuit of excellence...see you down the road this
year...
Stay warm,
Tim Hus
A TRIP TO EUROPE IN EARLY
JANUARY
Buckingham Palace, London and Brandenburger
Tor, Berlin - what a damn tourist!
The new year started with a little break for our travelin'
cowboy band as we took the time to spend the holidays
with family and friends. We put away our instruments
and parked the Hus Bus and each went our separate ways
for a few weeks.
A little change of scenery....
